Home Protection

Features to look for in home protection? At the end of a long busy day you want to go to a place where you relax, kick back, and take a load off. We call this place home. Home should be the place you can let your guard down and still feel safe. Unfortunately, we live in uncertain times and/or in uncertain parts of town. In order to keep that safe and peaceful feel around your home many have looked into home protection.

What’s the first step of home protection?

Whole home evaluation. Like a kid playing cops and robbers, think like a cat burgler. Walk around the perimeter of your property looking for weaknesses. Consider your doors, windows or any other areas of access. Are there windows that are low to the ground and could be kicked in? Are there trees that can reach an upstairs window?

This also applies to businesses. Walk around and evaluate your building’s weaknesses. Maybe the bay doors are a weak spot. Maybe your roof is accessible by another nearby building. The point of this exercise it to evaluate your needs so you can decide the best equipment to buy.

Are home security companies the only option?

Branded home security company have good performance records and should be considered in your home protection research. They are not the only option though. Some people can not afford the cost of the high tech systems. People may also want to avoid the monthly bill in order to keep the system monitored by the security network.

One of the best features on home security systems is the alarm. You want something that will notify you and anyone in the area that something is wrong. Know that something is wrong or someone is breaking in will give you the time to call for help, run away, or prepare yourself to fight. Find products that have quality infrared technology to watch over you even in low lighting.

Safety products that work for rentals or vacation property

Most security systems require you to drill in the holes in walls to install sensors, and alarms. Some establishments will not allow you to damage the property for your own security. Take a college dorm room for instance. Many colleges won’t allow their academic residence to put tacks in the wall let alone nails. In this case there are home protection equipment that do not require nails and screws. Things like door alarms or door stops that also has a alarm built in if the door opens and fits it.
